August 27, 2002 . Pier 5, Narragansett, RI More mounds of algae piled up at Pier 5 in Narragansett. Images show a prominence of Laminaria, bleached Chondrus near the high-tide line, and lots of eelgrass (Zostera marina) in some parts of the drift. Zostera isn't usually found here, probably because the adjacent waters have a rocky bottom, and Zostera roots in sandy-bottom areas. Also a closeup shot of bleached Codium stretched across a rock. |
